Preliminary Task: Evaluation
For the preliminary task, I was asked to combine with a group, to make a 12 shot video, which included various different camera angles, shot and using the 180 rule. The 180 rule is where two characters in a scene/shot with the characters same distance from left and right. In order to do the recording, there were multiple stages we had to overcome.
Firstly, we had to write a mind map, with our initial ideas of what we would consider doing. The obvious idea was to do a GCSE result day because it was simple to do, and knew it would go successful. Secondly, we got 12 different story boards which we wrote and drew the 12 different shots. Once we did that, we got a camera and took a picture of an overview of what the 12 different shots would be like, but briefly. We then made a plan of who was casting in this production. A description and character profile of the characters was what we wrote about the casting characters. Finally before we started filming, we made an action plan of the timing we would meet up to, what props we needed, the shots to film as well as where and when.
These tasks helped the filming production significantly, because the planning made us organized and prepared with the planning.
The filming production itself went successful at most points. The actual filming itself went successful when using different angles, and recording multiple shots to get the best ones in the end. A difficulty we needed to overcome was the sound. When recording, the audio was poor to hear. When recording from a further distance, the sound was much quieter, and difficult to hear. All the actors, props and materials needed were used in the preliminary filming, so apart from the audio, majority of the filming was up to standard.
After we eventually filmed it, all of our group individually edited all the different scenes together, choosing which were good enough to be apart of the film. The software used in this stage was Adobe Premier Pro, which is a fantastic software to use when you want to edit a film. Happily messing about with the different features, I became more professional in how to use it effectively. I went through all the different clips that had been recorded and decided the clips to use and put them in chronological order in which the film should look. Of cause, I used features such as the crop tool, to cut certain bits out that wasn't necessary and better off doing so. To make it as professional as I could, I imported some music that was suitable to go with the film to give it an increased effect.
Overall, the preliminary task was a success. After unfortunately losing a group member, we conquered our nightmare and as a team made a success film. The communication in our group is which was our strongest point. Working well and communicating together made it so much more effective because we were all assigned separate jobs which contributed towards the group effort. A weakness from this was a couple of scenes where the audio wasn't the greatest. If we had more time to do the recording, we could have improved the sound quality and therefore have better sound from the voices of the actors. When producing the Main task, as a group and individually we need to work faster, knowing there is three of us instead of four in the group. This means there will be more jobs spread across the group, but knowing there is only three of us will make us more curious of the time we have and work faster.
Also, my work is playing up, so the paragraphing is looking abit dodgy.
ReplyDeleteHi Jamie - thanks for completing the evaluation. I will look at the issues you are having with paragraphing on Monday in our lesson. I will also show you how to export your PT at the same time.
DeleteI am really pleased to see that you have spent more time and applied greater effort in completing this task Jamie. As per the comment trail above, I will be able to make a complete assessment of your work when the completed PT task is embedded to your blog via YouTube.
ReplyDeleteIt is vitally important that you continue to work hard if you are to keep making progress and move closer towards, and hopefully beyond, your target grade of a C. Please keep proof-reading your work in mind as a priority. Your literacy skills are better here but there are still errors in relation to spelling ("of cause") and general attention to detail and clarity with sentence construction ("The communication in group is which was our strongest point").
