Research : The British Board Of Film Classification
The BBFC, 'The British Board of Film Classification' are a company non governmental which chooses the rating of different films, depending on what the films contain. They started informing this since 1912. There are certain criteria's that a film must reach to get a specific. People working for this company watch through the films and make a judgment, depending on what is in the film. Rating start from 'U' and range up to an '18R. They aren't a profit based organization.
The term 'classicication' is meant to do with the different age rating categories.
If watching a 15 rated film, it means that you aren't permitted to watch the film unless you are at least the age of 15 at a cinema. The factors that determine the age rating to be a 15 are the following:
- Discrimination - Must not encourage discriminatory language or behavior, although small extent of racist homophobic could be involved.
- Drugs - May be shown but not too encourage people to try them. Highly Dangerous or misuse man not be tolerated in certain scenarios.
- Imitable behavior - Intolerant behavior like suicide, self-harming should not be shown in detail, and very briefly.
- Language - can contain strong language, but not extreme language. Depends on how it is used.
- Nudity - allowed in non-sexual or education uses. Can be used in sexual context but without strong detail.
- Threat - Possible for strong threat and horror. Sexual or sadistic treat may not be accepted.
- Violence - May be strong but not to reflect on infliction of pain or injury. Story gory scenes not to be acceptable, as well as sadistic violence.
