Planning : From Production Company Name to 60 second Pitch

Task 1

Planning : Production Company Name

Firstly, ideas for a production company name was our first thing is deciding. We brain stormed many ideas, then chose the top three names and voted which was the most suitable and most preferred. Some of the considered names were 'Jump scare production' and 'Nurse Carol productions'. Although, the top rated production company name was Optimism Semper, which means best ever in latin. The idea of this came around as in the 1700's, the majority of 'low budgeted films' used production names in latin that then transferred into English, which gave us the idea of using a Latin name. Below is the logo of our production company:



Task 2

Planning : Brainstorming Initial Ideas

When we got to this stage of planning, our group created a mind map of the different types of codes and conventions low budgeted horror films would consist of. We then grouped the codes and convention together based on which would make our horror opening more appealing to watch and less appealing. Eg, not having the same old story as a familiar well known horror film. As well as that, we checked which were possible to actually use and which weren't. This then lead to different ideas of what the whole film would be about, making it easier to think of an opening scene that we would produce.

Task 3

Planning : Decision Making

Once we thought of a suitable name, we created the storyline of the whole film. The name of the film is going to be called Zyklon B.The plot is that a white supremacy group called the Zyklons are running after a group of people when one of them inexplicably drops their bag. 2 Weeks later, 3 friends ( aged around 12-14) are playing in the woods when they encounter the bag which contains almost £20,000 pounds in cash as well as a nazi armband and a locket with that belonged to a Nazi soldier on it ( Zyklon B gas was used by the Nazi's to kill the jewish people in the holocaust) 2 of the boys are desperate for money where as the one wealthier boy wants to take responsibility and hand the bag in to the place, knowing what the Zyklon's are capable of. 

As two of the boys tussle over the bag another strikes him in the back of the head, killing him instantly. The boys have to hide his body and then think of a story when their friend is inevitably reported as missing. Furthermore the ongoing pursuit of the enraged Zyklon who returns to the scene of the crime to find their bag missing. The Zylkon's are named after Zyklon gas which was used to kill the jews in the holocaust, so they have a reputation of bloodshed. Will the boys evade the white supremacy group who are out for revenge and have a thirst for blood, can they all avoid the authorities when their dead friend is reported missing? Was the need for money in desperate times worth the consequences.
